Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center is seeking compassionate, self-motivated,
customer service driven, organized individuals who embody our values of compassion,

Overview
Peer Specialists share their own unique experience of living with mental health and/or substance abuse conditions to provide support focused on advocacy, education, mentoring, and motivation.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a role model and mentor to people working toward recovery.
- Informs, trains, supports, and empowers clients who directly or indirectly receive mental health services, including co-occurring clients.
- Communicates, represents, and promotes the client?s and family/caregiver?s perspective within the mental health system.
- Provides education to clients about recovery, peer support, consumer advocacy organizations, and illness management.
- Strives to maintain client-centered practices by integrating family and positive support systems; effectively facilitate groups to promote mutual learning, engagement, and integration of community resources such as cultural activities, spirituality, and other positive support groups.
- Attends and participates in special events, workshops, and training events within the mental health system and community.
- Develops activities, programs, and resources that support clients in achieving their goals.
- Develops effective working relationships with agencies and organizations to advocate for client empowerment.
- Provides outreach to engage prospective clients in services or existing clients in increased community involvement.
- May prepare and support clients at case staffing and at a variety of formal and informal hearings.
- Provides peer support to isolated clients by developing a trusting relationship for accompanying client in the community as needed.
- Understand the impact of trauma and responses to trauma, demonstrate sensitivity and acceptance of individual experiences.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations including health service standards and certifying agency standards.
- Completes paperwork requirements to maintain quality, up to date clinical records, including progress notes and other relevant information, and enters the necessary information into the electronic health record system.
- Adheres and abides by the Wyoming Peer Specialist Code of Ethical Conduct
- Practices and maintains appropriate professional and personal boundaries.
- Maintains confidentiality in all interactions related to the agency, i.e., any records or client related information.
- Demonstrates flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the organization.
- Travel to surrounding small rural communities to connect with and provide services to clients and potential clients.
- Participate in peer support ?warm line? call rotation.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Personal lived experience with mental health experiences and/or substance use and in recovery for at least 2 years
- Ability to obtain and maintain the Wyoming Peer Specialist Certification administered through Recover Wyoming & IC&RC
- Proficient in basic computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite/365 and willing to learn other applications.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a comprehensive background screen
- Valid driver?s license
