Review of "Days With My Father"

Toledano's elderly father had no short term memory.  For three years, until his father's death, Toledano took photographs, and the resulting book is a powerful record with striking, elegant images.  These are loving pictures in dark hues, dominated by greens and blues.  Some of them have some explanatory text, talking about his father's sense of humor, his ambition, his past, and his frustration with his life.  Some of the pictures show his father's handwritten notes to himself or to his dead wife. We get a sense of his admiration for his father and also the grief he feels at the gradual loss he is experiencing.  This is a memorable collection that will especially speak to people who have parents with dementia.
